Rachelle Jim was trained as a civil engineer and an architect, but she had chosen to fulfill her childhood ambition of becoming a fashion designer.
She started her eponymous fashion label in 2005 and had gradually developed a signature expression with emphasis on form, construction and texture.
Her aim is to establish the brand as a premier creative designer label from Shanghai, with a subtle and unique appeal to discerning taste.
In 2011, she won the Designer Brand Award for China Creative Design Contest, an invited competition organised by China National Garment Association and Fashion Inlife International Group.
In 2012, her 2012/13 fall-winter collection was exhibited in ¡°China in Paris¡± - an event supported by Federation Francaise de la Couture, du Pret a Porter des Couturiers et des Createurs de Mode.
Both 2012/13 fall-winter and 2013 spring-summer collections were presented in Shanghai Fashion Week. Her last collection was also showcased in Paris showrooms, with excellent response from media and potential buyers.
Her collection is currently carried by Dongliang and BNC in mainland China, with imminent expansion plan for second-tier Chinese cities.
Marketing effort across European, North American and Asian markets is also underway. Between 19 to 22 January 2013, Rachelle Jim will be presented in Paris Who¡¯s Next - ¡°Fame¡±.
